Our Philosophy

Is to bring you the highest quality pet, livestock and garden products.
We ask a lot of our pets. Why would we feed them something that barely satisfies their nutritional needs? At Old Mill Feed & Garden, we recommend foods that are high in nutrients like meat or meat meal (dehydrated meat), not corn or that term that is worst of all, meat and bone meal. Check it out. You might be surprised at how little it costs to upgrade your pets’ nutrition, and you’ll feel good about the results.

Livestock feed is where we started. Over the years, we’ve seen lots of changes. One good change we’ve seen is the move to more natural feeds; feeds formulated with natural grains and plant proteins. Our animals are important to us. Why would we feed them anything less? At Old Mill Feed & Garden, we’re proud to offer feed products that do the job, produced by people we know and trust.

What’s the fun of gardening if it requires too much work or the use of potentially harmful chemicals? At Old Mill Feed & Garden, we follow the lead of our own Lazy Gardener. “Feed your soil and your plants will take care of themselves.” Our garden products range from bark and soil amendments to quality plants, tools, and supplies. Stop in and have us help you find what you’re looking for.

At Old Mill Feed & Garden we love to have fun every day! Some of the best times we can remember are things like the annual pet photos with Santa or our educational workshops, but the one we all wait for every year is Chick Day! We look forward to having you join us for the next event, until then have a look at our gallery of some of the past events. You might just recognize some familiar faces.

Pets

At Old Mill, we think of our pets as a part of our family, and we treat them that way. So when its time to spoil your furry family members come down and see our wide variety of specialty treats and toys.

We also have lots of items designed to keep your pets safe and healthy such as leashes and collars or flea and worm medications.

Browse our large selection of high-quality foods from name brands.

Livestock

We have all the feed and supplies for your livestock whether you run a hobby farm or a full-scale operation.

Do you raise chickens, goats, sheep, cattle or horses? From bedding and stall necessities to feed and supplements, we have you covered.

Come in and speak with our knowledgeable staff about your heard or flock and they will be happy to advise you on what will work best for your farm.

Garden

Your garden is an expression of yourself. Some of us prefer flowers and others veggies.  At Old Mill Feed & Garden, we strive to provide all the tools and nutrients for every type of gardener. Come by and pick up your veggie starts or seeds for the season, annuals and bare root plants.

Need Bark? We have red fir and hemlock as well as compost, soil, sandy loam and washed sand. You can come by and pick up a load or we can deliver it to your driveway.

We are stocked with garden tools, soil amendments, a knowledgeable staff and all the supplies you will need for a beautiful healthy garden.

Our Story

Our history dates back to 1996 when we opened Independence Feed in Independence, Oregon. In 2000, we moved to The Feed Store on Washington Street in Dallas. Then, in 2007, we purchased the tired old Co-Op building on Main Street, gave it a little CPR, and opened as Old Mill Feed & Garden. The name reflects where we are and what we do.

We keep things simple here at Old Mill Feed & Garden. We like to help our neighbors take care of a few things they love; their pets, their animals, their yards. We also like to do things the easy way. That means feeding high-value foods that enhance our animals’ health without a bunch of nonsense. It means taking care of our yards in a way that keeps them looking good without breaking our backs or harming our environment. Funny, but when we let nature do its work instead of constantly trying to outsmart it, life gets easier. Perhaps there’s a bigger lesson there.
